HTC had a bit of a hiccup the last few days with the HTC Desire. First, they told everyone via the UK Desire’s Facebook that Gingerbread couldn’t possibly make its way to the phone. Then, the very next day they took it back and promised to find a way to do that thing they just promised wasn’t possible.
The question on plenty of people’s mind was how they were going to pull it off. After all, they had just said it wasn’t possible. Within another day though, they’ve announced their solution-
“To resolve Desire’s memory issue and enable the upgrade to Gingerbread, we will cut select apps from the release. Look for status updates starting next week. We apologize for any confusion.“
So they’re cutting back on those extra apps that come with the phone that you didn’t handpick yourself. Makes sense. And, to avoid upsetting those customers who actually use whichever apps they’ll be removing (no word on which ones yet), said apps will be available in the Android Market to download.
